The quiet artistic expressions of Japanese art conceal a very rich spiritual world. This 'cultural artistry,' which is still largely unknown, has the power to transform global artistic views, just as manga and anime have done.

 Having worked for 30 years at pharmaceutical companies from the United States and Germany, my desire for art grew, and in 2023, I decided to start a business with helmet painting, which I had been providing to acquaintances as a hobby.

 Just as a helmet, crafted and decorated for a single samurai, becomes his mask and identity, I feel a mysterious charm in specially designed modern helmets, where a soul seems to reside in the mask.

 Airbrushing allows for the expression of very delicate lines and color variations, making it suitable not only for helmets but also for Japanese-style painting. Therefore, I began to desire to utilize this technique to pursue Japanese identity, spirituality, and delicate expressions as art.

 I started painting female figures at the request of a theme for my first solo exhibition. I am working to combine delicacy with the sublimity of Japanese Buddhist statues and the commonness of Ukiyo-e.

 This time, I created works on a helmet and canvases that fuse calligraphy and painting, which are my origins. Calligraphy and painting were introduced from the continent and developed uniquely in Japan. The technique of painting enhancing calligraphy (words) and calligraphy enhancing painting is a traditional Japanese style that is also seen in Ukiyo-e, manga, and modern anime.

Although I am just starting out as an artist,I hope to propose “A contemplative world in the contemporary art” scene, one that holds Japanese delicate beauty, subtle emotional movements, quiet passion, and messages.

2026: Won the Grand Prize at the “Gold ♯3” International Juried Exhibition by Spatial Art TORAM 410Gallery

2025: Received the Excellence Award at the NY International Calligraphy Exhibition.

・Selected as one of the 100 Artists of The World at Stepping Into Times Square lll by Vision Art Media

2023: Started helmet painting in Shizuoka and founded "Subaru Art."

        ・Held the first solo exhibition "At Twenty" in Singapore.

2021: Resigned from the pharmaceutical industry to learn painting techniques at a motorcycle paint company.

2015: Inspired to become an artist after being deeply moved by Hashimoto Gahō's

          "Dragon and Tiger Folding Screen" and Ogata Kōrin's "Red and White Plum Blossoms Folding Screen."

2000: Started submitting works to "Public Interior Calligraphy Exhibition."

         ・Awards: Received the Dream Work Award (3rd edition, 2000), Ruby Award     

           (5th edition, 2002), and Dream Work Award again (11th edition, 2008).

1996: Completed a motorcycle pilgrimage to the 88 Temples of Buddhismin Shikoku.

         ・Selected for the "Ise Calligraphy Exhibition" in honor of Ise Grand Shrine's 2000th anniversary.

1993: Awarded the Runner-up Prize in the Helmet Character Contest for World GP Champion Kazuto Sakata by RIDING SPORT magazine.

1991: Began a 30-year career as a Medical Representative for three pharmaceutical companies from the U.S. and Germany.

・During this time, toured art museums and temples in 20countries,particularly experiencing Buddhist and Hindu temple art in Southeast Asia.

1988: Traveled around Japan on a motorcycle.

        ・Worked part-time under the Tower of the Sun in Expo Memorial Park.

1975: Began practicing calligraphy as a second grader.

           Awards: Received the Grand Prize at the Kashihara Shrine New Year Calligraphy Contest  (18th edition, 1977; 20th edition, 1979).

1970: Encountered Art the Tower of the Sun at Expo '70 in Osaka and spent childhood nearby. Felt as though raised under the artistic influence of the late TarōOkamoto created it.

1967: Born in Kōchi Prefecture, Japan.

　日本美術の静かな芸術表現、その奥には非常に豊かな精神世界が広がっています。まだほとんど知られていないこの「文化的芸術性」は、漫画やアニメがそうであったように世界の芸術観をも変えていける力があると思っています。

　30年間アメリカやドイツの外資系製薬会社に勤務してきましたが、そんなアートへの想いが募り、2023年まずは趣味として知人に提供していたヘルメットペインティングをビジネスとして始めることになりました。

　一人の侍のために制作装飾される兜が、その武士の仮面となってアイデンティティを持つように、特別にデザインされる現代の兜、ヘルメットにも仮面に魂が宿るような不思議な魅力を感じます。

　エアブラシは非常に繊細な線や色の変化を表現でき、ヘルメットだけでなく日本画的な表現にも向いているため、できることならこれを駆使して、日本人としてのアイデンティティや精神性、繊細な表現を芸術として追求していきたいと思うようになりました。

　女性画を描き始めたのは、初個展のテーマとしてリクエストされたことがきっかけです。繊細さに加え日本の仏像的な崇高さと浮世絵的な庶民性を兼ね合わせられないかと思い取り組んでいます。

　２０２５年４月のニューヨーク公募展ではヘルメットとキャンバスに、自身の原点でもある書と絵画を融合させた作品を制作しました。書画は大陸から伝来し日本独自に発展しましたが、絵画が書(言葉)を、書が絵画を互いに活かし合う手法は、浮世絵や漫画、また現代アニメにも通ずる日本伝統のスタイルでもあります。

　アーティストとしては駆け出したばかりですが、願わくは、現代のアート界に、日本的繊細美と細やかな心の動き、静かな情熱やメッセージを秘めたコンテンプレーティブな世界を提案できればと思っています。

【1967年】　高知県生まれ

【1970年】　大阪万博で太陽の塔に出合い、その近郊で幼少期を過ごす。以来、故岡本太郎氏の芸術に見守られて育った気がしている

【1975年】　小学２年生で書道を始める 橿原神宮書きぞめ大会

第18回(1977年)、 第20回(1979年)　最優秀賞

【1988年より】万博公園内、太陽の塔のもとでアルバイト勤務

 ・オートバイにて日本一周を敢行

【1991年より】３０年間、アメリカ、ドイツ系製薬会社３社に医薬情報担当者として勤務

この間、世界２０カ国の美術館や博物館をめぐり、中でもタイ、カンボジア、ミャンマー、ベトナムなどで仏教、ヒンズー教の仏閣寺院芸術に触れる
